1. A 3+ hour drive from Bangkok ($50 for a private car transport). Pretty
convenient for a few one or two week visits to Bangkok a year.
2. A quieter beach town than Phuket; generally older people with no
all-night party scene.
3. Very nice, reasonably priced accommodations, and a good hospital.
4. Numerous local sites & attractions include a few Buddhist temples,
a national park for nature walks, good food markets and a decent
shopping complex.
